The reef 500 filter system is a compact 3-stage unit for use
in the cabinet under the aquarium. The units is of modular construction and can be
enlarged or extended as required. The system comprises a pre-filtration module filled with
sponge, for performing mechanical filtration, a Turboflotor 1000 protein skimmer with
venturi pump and needle wheel, and a post skimming trickle filter filled with Bactoballs
for biological filtration. A purpose built glass sump is available as an option. This sump
is designed to take, in addition to the reef 500, a Calcium Reactor and a Nitratreductor,
